Arctic Alaska SCCA Autocross School

Alaska Raceway Park

About this event

The full day school will introduce key concepts that introduce you to autocross and the dynamics of your vehicle in a performance driving setting.  While the focus is on autocross, you will develop performance driving skills while working with seasoned performance driving instructors.

If you are looking for motorsports competition or just a great way to enjoy the capabilities of your car, the Arctic Alaska Region SCCA Autocross School is your complete motorsports starter kit.

Students should bring a car that can be used to autocross in.  High center of gravity vehicles including vans, mini-vans, sport utility vehicles, crossovers  and pickup trucks are not allowed.  If you have any questions contact us and we can help you determine if your vehicle can be used for this purpose.

Friday will consist of a Zoom Classroom session @ 7pm.

Saturday will consist of a hands on instruction and Round Robin between the Skid pad and Slalom sections at Alaska Raceway Park.

Saturday will go from 8am- 4pm.

*Your admission for the School also includes your event fee for Sundays Points #2 Event.*

Bring a good attitude, an open mind, drinking water snacks and a packed lunch as there are no food facilities close by.

Helmets: Competitors must have helmets on during competition. All helmets meeting the latest or two immediately preceding Snell Foundation standards (SA2015, SA2010, SAH2010, SA2005, SA2000, M2015, M2010, M2005, M2000, K2010, K2005, K98) SFI standards 31.1, 41.1,31.1A, 31.2A, 41.1A, 41.2A or British spec BS6658-85 type A/FR are acceptable.

The Region will have limited sizes and quantities of “loaner helmets” at the event.

CLASSES, CAR PREPARATION AND MODIFICATIONS
The Region utilizes the current SCCA National Solo Rules classifications.

The Region has four Classes: Novice for those new to the sport, Ladies for our Female competitors we offer this National Class for those who don't wish to run one of the other classes, Open is our intermediate class for those Region competitors looking for fun with some competition, and Expert which is the "Deep End Of The Pool," with very stiff competition.  All of these classes are better explained in the current Region Autocross Supplemental Rules and can be found on the Region Website at www.alaskascca.org.

Each competitor will be required to present their vehicle ready for inspection to the Tech Inspection Team immediately following Registration. Vehicles shall have mufflers, working seatbelts, and NO leaking fluids, in addition to the other items on the Tech Sheet.

The Region will be enforcing a sound limit rule to ensure that we are able to continue to enjoy our sport.  The details are outlined in Appendix I of the current National Rules.  Bottom line is sound level readings will be taken at a location on the edge of the courses and competitors who exceed the maximum sound level will be given the opportunity to make repairs to meet the acceptable sound level.  If on subsequent runs the competitor does not meet the acceptable level, they will not be allowed to continue to compete.
