Directions

The Roanoke Civic Center / Berglund Center is conveniently located at the intersection of Williamson Road off Interstate 581 and State Route 460. Air transportation is available just five miles North on I-581 at the Roanoke Regional Airport with several major airlines to choose from. For ground transportation, Valley Metrocity buses pick-up and drop-off in front of the Civic Center every hour (every half-hour during morning and afternoon rush). Taxi service is also available and convenient within the city.

 

From the North - Take I-81 South to I-581 South, Exit 143. Follow I-581 South to Exit 4E (Orange Avenue). The Civic Center is at the corner of Orange Avenue and Williamson Road.

 

From the South - Travel US 220 North to I-581 North to Exit 4E or 4W (Orange Avenue). The Civic Center is at the corner of Orange Avenue and Williamson Road.

 

From the East - Travel US Route 460 into Roanoke. The Civic Center is at the corner of Orange Avenue and Williamson Road.

 

From the West - Travel I-81 North to I-581 South, Exit 143. Follow I-581 South to Exit 4E or 4W (Orange Avenue). The Civic Center is at the corner of Orange Avenue and Williamson Road.

BRR SCCA Pandemic Event Operating Procedures

 

  • PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and Situational Awareness
    • Please read this entire document before you register for the event. That will allow you to make an educated decision about attending the event
    • If you are at higher risk for severe illness, or if you are sick, or if you have been in contact with anyone that is sick in the last two weeks, or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms such as fever, cough or shortness of breath, please stay home.
    • BRR will provide nitrile gloves for workers, cleaning supplies for equipment, and hand sanitizer for use by all participants.
    • Participants must supply their own face covering / mask.  If you don’t have a mask you will not be permitted to participate and be asked to leave the event site.
    • Things are not “normal”.  The world has changed.  Please remember that.  Limit physical contact; refrain and discourage hugs, handshakes, and high-fives.
  • Registration
    • All registration, payment, and check in will be done electronically on www.Motorsportreg.com. Online pre-registration will be open until midnight the day before the event.
    • We will leave registration open until 9:00 AM on the day of the event.  You must complete online registration and payment by that time.  We strongly suggest that you pre-register. There will be a $20 late registration fee for online registration after midnight the day before the event.  
    • Payments will be processed the after the event.
    • Waivers will be signed using Speedwaiver   This link  Speedwaiver  will be available after September 5, 2020.  You must have a smart phone to complete this process. This must be completed  before the drivers meeting on the day of the event. There will not be any paper waivers or wristbands.
    • Please understand that the steps above are the only way to register and participate in this event.  If you show up and are unable or unwilling to register this way, you will not be able to participate.
  • Face masks 
    • A properly worn face mask (covering nose and mouth) is required any time you are outside of your car.
  • Loaner helmets
    • BRR loaner helmets will not be available. This does not exempt you from the requirement to wear an approved helmet when you compete. Participants should not share helmets.
  • Spectators, co-drivers, passengers
    • Spectators are allowed. Spectators must wear face masks and maintain social distancing. 
    • Co-drivers are limited to people who normally live together.
    • Passengers (event participants riding in the same car who are not co-drivers) are prohibited.
  • Driver’s meeting
    • The driver’s meeting will be available on the public address system and broadcast on 103.1 FM at the event site.  You are encouraged to listen to the driver’s meeting on your car radio.
    • The run work order will be posted on the BRR live timing site at http://www.brr-scca.org/live/
  • Tech Inspection
    • Entrants are required to fill out the self tech certification in the online registration form
  • Course walking
    • Entrants should follow social distancing guidelines (wearing face masks and maintaining a 6 ft. separation) while walking the course.
    • There will not be a guided course walk.
    • People who normally live together may walk together, but must wear face masks.
  • Paddock and Grid
    • These areas will be laid out to allow event operations and maintain social distancing. Please respect the markings as you use these areas. 
  • Worker stations 
    • Course workers (flag stations, starter, grid) are required to wear face masks and nitrile gloves.
    • Course workers at the same work station should remain at least 6 feet apart.
    • Only one person will handle the flag and radio. This person will also be responsible for sanitizing the equipment at the start and the end of the shift. The cleaning procedure will be demonstrated at the event.
    • Only the computer operator and timing audit worker will be allowed in the trailer during the event. They are required to wear gloves and face masks.

  • Water
    • Participants are encouraged to bring their own drinks for proper hydration during the event.
    • BRR will have a limited supply of un-refrigerated bottled water for course workers.
  • Trophies
    • There will not be a formal awards ceremony following the event.
    • Trophies will be available on a table for pick up after the event.

Class Definitions

  1. LADIES - will be scored on the PAX of the respective base class entered.  Participation in the LADIES  is at the discretion of the entrant.
  2. NOVICE -   can be entered by participants that have entered less than 10 autocrosses or who have not completed a full season of Solo events. The NOVICE is scored on the PAX of each novice entrant. Participation in the NOVICE  is at the discretion of the entrant. 
  3. MASTERS - is for drivers age 60 and over, and will be scored on the PAX of the respective base class entered.  Participation in MASTERS is at the discretion of the entrant.
  4. OPEN is for drivers who want to compete with others in their base class. Open is scored on time.

Driver's meeting  - 9:00 AM

First car off - 9:30 AM

We're going to try something different this time. Since this is a charity event associated with a breakfast fundraiser we're going to try and get an early start. The plan is to get started at 9:30 AM or as soon as there are 30 people ready to go. If you're not ready by then you will run after the first 30 cars are finished.

Event requirements

Entrants must show the Event Registrar their valid driver's license.

Entrants will be required to work, failure to do so, will result in working twice before they will be allowed to run in another Blue Ridge Region solo event.

SCCA membership is required for all entrants. Weekend Memberships are available for those who are not current SCCA members.

Weekend Memberships cost $10.00. The membership period is 5 consecutive days from the date of purchase. A Weekend Membership entitles you to a $15.00 discount when appying for a Regular SCCA Membership. The discount is good for 60 days. Limit two $15.00 discounts for a total of $30.00.

All drivers and passengers are required to wear a helmet. All helmets meeting the latest or two immediately preceding Snell Foundation standards (SA2015, SA2010, SAH2010, SA2005,  M2015, M2010, M2005, , K2015, K2010, K2005, K98); SFI standards 31.1, 41.1, 31.1A, 31.2A, 41.1A, 41.2A; ECE R22.05; FIA standards 8859-2015, 8860-2010, 8860-2004; or British spec BS6658-85 type A are acceptable.

Loaner helmets will not be available.
