About this event

This is a SAVE THE DATE posting. It will be updated soon- check back! Also join us on FB and IG @Land O' Lakes Region SCCA RoadRally  or "Twin City Rally Club" group on FB

If you love spirited driving on backroads, these events are for you! Here are two great winter rallies in one weekend; you can run these rallies in your street car with no special modifications. Grab a friend and let's go!

How Are The Vibes?

Flamethrower RoadRally- February 28, 2026

Flamethrower Rally is a brisk Regularity (TSD) Rally which invites you to compete from Hastings to Lake City on some of Minnesota's best driving roads. The course takes advantage of the elevation changes, natural twisty gravel backroads, and challenging winter conditions in the valleys flowing into the Mississippi River. Road conditions can range from frozen gravel to snow and even some ice. Back from popular demand are minimum maintenance roads as long as they are passable with a stock economy car! "Flamethrower" is a reference to Lucas Flamethrower driving lights because much of this rally will be held in dusk and nighttime conditions!

Alligator Slide RoadRally- February 23, 2025

Back for its second year in the modern era, Alligator Slide Rally is a brisk Regularity (TSD) Rally which invites you to compete from Winona to Red Wing on some of Wisconsin's best driving roads. The course pits you against the same fun and challenging driving weather conditions in Flamethrower, but includes a mix of paved & gravel roads sure to keep you on your toes! You may expect to encounter sandy areas, snow, and possibly some ice. "Alligator Slide" is a reference to a classic driftless-area rally road from back when people drove Datsuns!

What do I need?

Check out this video for help getting started in RoadRally! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O91goIg8Cck

Car: Your vehicle will have to pass a very basic technical inspection (See Tech Inspection section). Your standard road car will work just fine! Low clearance vehicles will need to exercise caution on a couple roads but should generally be ok. The course will be checked with a stock 1963 Chevrolet Corvair. You do NOT need a specially prepared car.

People: Each car must include two people: a driver and a navigator. No other passengers are allowed. If your navigator is a minor a special release is required- please ask ahead of time.

Equipment: No special equipment is required. For the most fun, we recommend you download the Rabbit Rally 2.0 app to use our interactive digital roadbook and GPS timing.  Rabbit Rally 2.0 offers an interactive digital roadbook and does all calculations for you so that you always know if you are on time.

More Information

The rally follows the international regularity rally format. Speed shall have no impact whatsoever on the classification. The roadbook will give you standard FIA-style turn-by-turn route instructions with precise mileages, speeds, and tulips. You will compete on road sections called Regularity Stages linked by non-scored Transit sections. The objective is to arrive at every GPS checkpoint exactly on time according to the roadbook speeds. Penalty points will be given for arriving at GPS checkpoints early or late. The winner shall be the competitor with the fewest points at the end of the rally.
